Richmond Hill

Public speaking & communication coaching for Richmond Hill.

Delivered online — teen, private and corporate programs, with the same coach and the same material, over video.

Let's be direct: Vocal Power does not run in-person sessions in Richmond Hill.

Coaching for Richmond Hill clients is delivered online, over video. That is worth knowing before you read any further, because plenty of pages like this one imply a local classroom that does not exist. There is no Vocal Power room in Richmond Hill to book.

What there is: Earl Sky, who has spent more than 30 years earning a living with his voice — as a broadcast journalist with CBC Radio and City TV, as the announcer on national and international television and radio commercials, as an instructor in the broadcasting and public speaking programs at Humber College, and as a guest lecturer at the Schulich School of Business at York University. Every session is with him, not a facilitator working from his notes.

If being in the same room genuinely matters for what you are preparing for, in-person sessions are available in the Toronto area. See communication training in Toronto for how that works.

Why online

For most of this work, video isn't second best.

Your presentations are already on video

Team meetings, client calls, interviews, panels. If that is where you actually have to perform, rehearsing anywhere else is the compromise.

You can watch yourself work

Video feedback has always been part of how Earl coaches. Online, it is simply built in — you see your own delivery while you are doing it, and again afterwards.

Consistency beats atmosphere

Progress comes from repetition, and nothing kills a coaching schedule faster than a commute. A standing weekly hour is far easier to protect when it is a link, not a drive.

Where a room does help is a stage, a large audience and a microphone in your hand. If that is what is coming, tell us on the consultation call and we will say so rather than sell you the online version.

For parents

The teen program, for ages 12 to 18.

Groups stay small because every student needs time on their feet. Teens work through exercises together, present, watch themselves back, and get honest feedback in a room — even a virtual one — where that is the normal thing to happen. The skills show up first in classroom presentations, then in interviews, teams and everything after.

  • Overcoming speaking anxiety through relaxation and breathing techniques
  • Eye contact and body language that hold an audience, on camera and off
  • Breathing, enunciation and tone control
  • Speaking spontaneously, without a script to hide behind
  • Constructing and delivering a full speech from scratch
  • Video feedback on every presentation

Full details are on the teen public speaking program page. Group timing varies through the year, so ask what is running.

For adults and teams

Every program is available, all of it online.

Nothing is held back from remote clients. Private coaching is booked an hour at a time for as many sessions as you want, and corporate programs are built around how your team actually communicates.

Richmond Hill sits inside the wider service area covered on the Greater Toronto Area training page, which explains which formats are available where.

“Earl has the rare ability to effectively communicate to students at their level. This has enabled them to meet and exceed their professional goals.”
Joe Andrews · Coordinator, Radio Broadcasting Graduate Program, Humber College
