Greater Toronto Area
Communication training across the GTA.
One coach, a region that takes an hour to cross. Here is how training actually gets delivered to organizations and individuals across the Greater Toronto Area.
Vocal Power is based in Toronto and works with clients throughout the Greater Toronto Area — corporate teams, executives, professionals and teens.
Earl Sky has been earning a living with his voice for more than 30 years, as a broadcast journalist with CBC Radio and City TV, as an announcer and voice-over artist, and as an instructor in the broadcasting and public speaking programs at Humber College. For organizations across the region, that means one experienced coach rather than a rotating roster of facilitators.
Practically, it comes down to where the session happens. In-person coaching is based in the Toronto area. Everywhere else in the region — Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan, Mississauga and the rest — training is delivered online, and for a team program it is worth asking whether an on-site day is possible rather than assuming either way.

Two ways in
For organizations, and for one person at a time.
For organizations
Corporate programs are built around how your people actually communicate: client presentations, internal briefings, leadership updates, all-hands meetings and the Q&A that follows. Sessions are hands-on and run in a relaxed atmosphere, because that is where people take the risks that produce progress.
Programs run virtually for teams across the region, and on-site in the Toronto area. A hybrid shape is common: a day in the room to build momentum, then shorter online follow-ups. If your team is further out and you want Earl in the room, ask — that is a conversation, not a fixed policy. Lunch-and-learn style workshops are a common entry point for organizations that want to try one session first.
For individuals
Private coaching is booked one hour at a time, for as many sessions as you want, until the skills feel like yours. Some people come for a single presentation on a known date. Others work on something longer term: nerves, a voice they have never liked, or the authority they need in a new role.
Sessions run in person in the Toronto area, or online from anywhere — which is how most clients further out in the region work, because an hour of coaching should not cost you two hours of driving. Parents across the GTA also ask about the teen program for ages 12 to 18.
Available across the GTA
Every Vocal Power program travels.
Nothing on this list is Toronto-only. What changes between clients is the format, not the content.
Corporate training
Team and department programs, tailored to your industry's real communication moments. On-site, virtual or hybrid.
Personal coaching
Private sessions for professionals and executives, in person in the Toronto area or over Zoom from anywhere in the region.
Media training
Interview, podcast, panel and on-camera preparation, including urgent sessions when something is already happening.
Public speaking
Confidence, nerves, projection, diction and delivery — the foundation everything else is built on.
Presentation skills
Structuring a presentation, holding attention and delivering it without reading your slides to the room.
Free workshop
A low-commitment place to start if you would rather see how Earl teaches before booking anything.
Delivery
On-site, virtual, or a bit of both.
- On-site in the Toronto area
- Earl comes to your office for private training and workshops. For one-to-one sessions we recommend a meeting room rather than the person's own office — interruptions are the enemy of practice.
- Virtual
- Full sessions over Zoom for individuals and distributed teams. If your meetings and interviews happen on video anyway, rehearsing on video is the point rather than a compromise.
- Hybrid
- A common shape for corporate work across the region: an in-person day to build momentum, then shorter online follow-ups so the techniques survive contact with real deadlines.

Choosing
Which program fits your situation.
If you are still unsure after this, say so on the consultation call. It is a five-minute conversation, not a sales process.
| Program | Best for | Format | How it runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corporate training | A team or department that presents, briefs and meets constantly | On-site, virtual or hybrid | Your group, your material |
| Personal coaching | One person with a specific goal, a deadline, or a long-running discomfort | In person in the Toronto area, or virtual | One-to-one, booked an hour at a time |
| Media training | Executives, founders and spokespeople facing interviews or cameras | On-site in Toronto, or virtual | Mock interviews and live drills |
| Public speaking | Anyone who wants to be a stronger, more confident speaker generally | Individual or group | Active practice with feedback |
| Presentation skills | A presentation that already exists and has to land | Individual or group | Structure, delivery, rehearsal |
| Teen program | Ages 12 to 18, classroom presentations and early confidence | Small group | Participation and video feedback |
We don't publish a page for every municipality.
There is no useful difference between what we would write about training in one GTA city and the next, so this page covers the region instead. What matters to you is not a city name in a heading — it is which format you will actually get, and whether the program is the right one.
If you want to know whether we can work with you specifically, ask. The answer is usually yes — most often online, and for most of what we do that is genuinely equivalent rather than a lesser version.
In the city itself, see communication training in Toronto.
“Earl is an amazing, enthusiastic and passionate speaker who offers great information, techniques and advice on how to use the ‘power of your voice.’ Earl has the ability to energize and make you feel at ease while empowering you to make a vocal impression.”
